Time for a little humor...

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country.

Well, there's a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low.

The reason for that is purely geographical:

our oil is located in Alaska, California, Coastal Florida, Coastal Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas, but our dipsticks are located in Washington, DC!

Raider song

Hey Raiders!

I'm sure we all remember the BHS fight song, but if you are like me, you could use a refresher on some of the words. If I can find an audio link I will post it to help with the tune.

BLOOMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL CHEER SONG

Bloomington, we love thy name

We will bring thee greater fame

We're for you, yes, everyone

'Til the victory is won

Rah! Rah! Rah!

All for Bloomington, our cry,

All for B.H.S. or die.

Come stand as one and all your praises sing‑

For Bloomington the echoes ring.

Make sure and practice! :-)

Bob

Send me photos!

Sorry I missed the big event!

Hey Guys,

Hope you all had a great time at the reunion! I made it to the 10th and 20th but was so sad to miss the 30th. I was in Europe with our two teenage boys and my mom for our summer vacation. I hope I will be able to attend the 40th with a little more notice. I live in Arizona but would be glad to help in anyway I can with the next one, just let me know. If anyone wants to email me my email is taterbug123@gmail.com.

Thanks for your hard work putting this together.

Great Job!

I want to thank Sue and the committee for putting on a great reunion. Thank you for your efforts! I would be happy to book a 70's band for the next reunuion at the Coliseum. Maybe also invite the class of 76 and 78 as well. Just a thought.

First Time Blogging

Thanks for setting this site up Bob. GREAT JOB!!! I really missed being at the reunion this year. I was on duty and couldn't find anyone to trade time with me. I did stop by with Engine 1 (Bloomington Fire), to say a quick hello, but we got a call for a rescue assist just as soon as I set foot inside the door, and I didn't make it back.

Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on how everyone is doing, now that you set this site up. I look forward to visiting online with you all. Take care.

Reunion Photos

Ashman asked in a comment how to find the pictures that Julie took on Saturday night - here's the scoop:

go to: www.color-labs.us after 9.1.07

in the white search box type "Lakeside" and use the password "classof77"

Julie says if you've got questions - contact her at julie@julieprochnow.com

(And a BIG HUGE PURPLE RAIDER HUG to Julie and her assistant for working so hard last week and getting us the great group photo...can't wait to see the on-line stuff!!)

I really wasn't thinking about it at the time...

Three kids in college this year. Pray for me! :-)

Learning as I go.

Hello all :-)

I think I'm making some headway as far as trying to make this a site for everyone. I am in the process of inviting you all to be co-authors with me. I have to invite each of you individually, so it will take some time to get to everyone. If I understand it correctly, once you accept your invitation you should be able to make posts of your own rather than only being able to reply to post I make.

In the meantime, keep sending in any email addresses, phone numbers, house addresses, etc., you have or find, so we can build our alumni database for the next reunion. I know, 10 years seems like a long time, but I'm finding as I age, time seems to go faster (unless I'm at work). Besides, we may come up with some other activities involving you guys, so keep digging for our missing Raiders!

Well, enough for tonight. I hope to begin hearing from some of you soon. Give me some ideas to make our blog better.

Go Purple!

Bob

How to post a reply

I told you I was new to this blogging stuff and sure enough, right away I find out I forgot to do something, so let me take care of this now.

How to post a reply:

On the top, right hand side you will see the blog archive. Below that you will see the post titles. Click on the post you want to reply to and then at the bottom of the post, click on post a reply.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Go Purple!

Bob

I almost forgot...

If you find you are having any trouble with this site, please email me at: 1977BHSRaiders@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Bob

Look out everyone... :-)

Well, here we go.
The first post of my fist ever attempt at blogging.
I guess I should begin by explaining why I created this blog. Good place to start, right?

The basic idea is to have a place where info, ideas, pictures, news, blues, and all that jazz (yes, I'm listening to WGLT), can be presented to all Purple Raider alumni from 1977. A place where helpful comments are welcome and discussion is encouraged. A place to kill some time and relax when a break is needed or we are just wanting to stay in touch. A place to fill the lonely hours until our next reunion. Well, maybe not so much (we all have lots to stay busy with), but you get the idea.

Being new to this blogging thing, I'm sure the look and feel will undergo some tweaking as time passes. I'd like to add the Purple Raider head to the site, but I'm not sure if I have to get permission from anyone. If not, the Purple Raider himself with be here soon!

Other than sharing this basic information, I would like to encourage all of you alumni to help me make this a place you want to stop by. Send me ideas about Raider events you would like to keep up with, or things you are involved with you would like others to know about. I will do my best to keep you all up to date.

Until next time, Go Purple!

Bob
